Brockville 20:30 EST 7 March 2001

Well we made it here. Martin's flight from Vienna was early (a novelty) as was our arrival in Toronto (novelty squared). However on the way I fainted on my way to the washroom, which got me a bump on the head and a row of 3 seats for the rest of the flight.

Having got through Canadian Customs and Immigration and taken the transit bus to Terminal 3 from T1, we picked up our hire car and headed east. The road was clear, quite busy out of Toronto, then quieter. Got to Brockville at 4:15 a.m. local time, crashed till 9, then off to town to sort banks etc, get coffee & blueberry fritters, shop, and so on. Took in the view of the St Lawrence, tried Keith's IPA from Nova Scotia, now Martin's cooking, my body's saying it's 1.30 a.m., but the clock says it's 8.30 p.m. Doh!

The entrance to Brockville marina. Note the sign that says "Dead Slow No Wake" - difficult to make a wake when the ice is so thick.

A view over the St Lawrence. You can see the unfrozen bit out there. The far side is USA.
